The always terrific Collingwood Children's Toy Library is having a Messy day for kids this Saturday from 10am -12pm. There will be slime, mud finger paint and a whole lot of fun. More details on their site.
If you were a part of our Animation workshop last year or missed out entirely you are in luck, this Sunday I am taking the children to Art Play to be a part of our animation teacher Isobel Knowels' and Cat Rabbits Factory or Fiction workshop. It is going to be brilliant, I am not sure if there are still tickets but it would be worth checking.
Or why not sign up to art play to stay in touch with future events

Walter Martin has managed to do the impossible and make a terrific album not just for children but for everyone.
We're all young together is whimsical sweet and a whole lot of fun and an album I often listen too even with no children around.
Walter has captured the feeling of being a child with all its wonder, adventure, simplicity and complexity in these beautifully crafted songs.
Hooray ! Our new term is now launched and this time around we are excited to offer a series of workshops as well as the term long courses.
There are classes for adults and children of all ages taught by practicing and professional artist that cover theoretical, historical and design aspects of their subjects whilst introducing to new skills in a fun and dynamic way.
The incredible image above is by our painting teacher Sarah Tomasetti who will be teaching an intermediate Oil painting techniques class this term. In this course students will focus on a discussion of the place of representation in an era dominated by film, photography and digital media. Students will look at the work of a number of artists who have addressed this question via both technique and content. In the initial weeks we will look at innovative oil techniques that incorporate and reflect this shifting culture. Students will then be asked to generate their own project using a combination of objects and reproductions. Thanks to Shannon Smily for all your teaching the past two terms.
Caitlin Murray will not be teaching her Illustration and Introduction class next term but will return in the new year for an Illustration 2 class. In her timeslot we welcome Trina Gaskell an acomplished puppeteer who has worked with the likes of Handspan Pollygot and Snuff Puppets. Trina will be teaching shadow Puppet film making for 9-13 year olds.
This term we will be offering workshops in Comic Book Character Design, Pop up Paper Craft and Book Sculpture, giving students of all ages a chance to spend an afternoon with an accomplished artist, creating something new, whilst sampling a shorter class format.
If you have ever wanted to access your dormant creative side now is your chance. We look forward to seeing you in our beautiful studio over the next few months.
: hervé tullet :
Here is a new section dedicated to music, art and books for children that are equally enjoyable for adults. I thought we could start with the smashing genius that is Hervé Tullet...
There are a never ending supply of children's books out there but sometimes one comes along that is so singular and wonderful that it transcends any boundaries of age, becoming a favourite for everyone.
We have had "Press Here" and "Mix it Up" by Hervé Tullet in our house for years now and the simple genius of both are just as wonderful after reading them for the hundredth time.
If you are not familiar with them you can grab a copy here.
you won't regret it.
