Michael Conole is a multi discipline artist and furniture maker. His work spans painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, woodcarving and furniture making as well as leather work.
His interest in aesthetics and fascination with materials originally led him to study archaeology.
He became increasingly interested in painting and furniture making and began working with and for artists.
In 2000 began working as an assistant to Ricky Swallow, for whom he carved.
After working in Europe Michael returned to begin a furniture and leather goods business, Hercynia Silva.
His designs reflect his interest in antiquity, history and the natural world.
